Employee Awards and Recognition

Our people are central to everything we do. Only through the capabilities of our people are we able to continue to produce the loved and trusted brands that our customers and consumers depend on.

That is why we firmly believe in recognising our team members that go above and beyond and show commitment to our business.

Going the Extra Mile (GEM) Award

Going the Extra Mile (GEM) Award is a global employee recognition program that enables people leaders at any of our Simplot locations to reward an employee who exhibits leadership capabilities above and beyond their current role. There are four award levels - Emerald, Ruby, Sapphire, and Diamond. Each level has a monetary range and set criteria. Awarding of a GEM can take place at any time so that the recognition is immediate, and the amount is paid with the employee’s regular salary.

Managing Director Awards

The Simplot Australia annual Managing Director Awards recognise individuals and teams who epitomise our corporate values and go above the status quo to deliver on our strategy. Finalists are selected by a panel of judges, with the winner ultimately chosen by our Managing Director for each category. The Managing Director Award's event is a highlight in our calendar. The evening is usually attended by members of the Simplot family, and provides an opportunity to celebrate outstanding achievements.

Service Recognition

Simplot celebrates employees' length of service initially after five years of service, and at five-year intervals after that with a certificate of service. For employees completing 10 years' service and at five-year intervals thereafter, in addition to the certificate of service, awards will comprise a memory book with reflections from colleagues and a gift.

Incentive Plan

Simplot Australia runs very competitive bonus plans for salaried employees linked to the company and individual performance. Bonuses are paid to eligible employees still working with the business in the December post the Simplot financial year.

Flexibility and Leave Options

We recognise that our employees have a variety of commitments outside of the workplace and being able to juggle these is important for their wellbeing. To accommodate these commitments, employees can apply for formal flexible working arrangements, including part time, job sharing, and working from home.

We also enable certain roles to work remotely for up to two days a week, offer flexibility in the standard daily working hours, and encourage our team members to 'dress for your day'.

Over and above standard leave entitlements, Simplot Australia also offers a range of leave options including study leave, volunteer leave, paid parental leave, and purchased annual leave.


Safety, Health and Wellbeing Programs

The safety, health and wellbeing of our people is a key priority for our business. We provide a range of training specific to a team member's role to ensure their operating environment and tools are safe.

We also offer a range programs to provide our people with the resources to help them be at their best and feel in tip top condition.

The Healthy Body and Mind Hub is a dedicated health and wellbeing platform that provides employees with a great range of engaging, easy-to-access online resources to support them at any time (24/7) and place (work, home, on the road, or in between on the commute).

Other health and wellbeing benefits include annual flu vaccinations, health checks, discounted health insurance and gym memberships.

We also know from time to time we all require some extra support or an independent voice to talk with. Our Employee Assistance Program provides company-funded access to a confidential professional service that can offer professional support for mental, financial, physical and emotional wellbeing.

Professional Development Assistance

Simplot recognises that effective external education, training, and development activities positively contribute to our employees' short and long-term interests and benefits the company. We support this by offering eligible employees the opportunity to develop professionally, enabling them to perform in their current position and develop future capabilities.

Internal Development Opportunities

We also offer our employees various internal development opportunities for current or future roles. These may include leadership development or role-based training. We also have many online resources available.

Employee Resource Groups

Working at Simplot, you can choose to be part of one of our global Employee Resource Groups (ERGs). These employee created and led groups actively seek to build an environment that is representative and supportive of the diverse background within our communities. You can join any of the following groups, or create your own: 

Women’s Impact Network– empowers and supports women by promoting leadership, professional development and fostering connections.

Simplot Military Alliance – supports current serving military personnel and veterans with career mapping, as well as supporting the local and national veteran population through volunteering and outreach.

Rainbow Alliance – enables global connections to help create a safe, inclusive, and equitable working environment for all lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and intersex + (LGBTQi+) employees.

LA HORA – supports professional development and cultural awareness for people of Latin American and Hispanic origin.

People of Colour – provides a psychologically safe space to employees who identify as a person of colour and acts as a support system that promotes empowerment.

Progress in Disability – Supports employees who have a disability, or who care for or have a dependent with a disability.
