Simplot was proud to support the 2025 Fearless Festival in Hobart, Tasmania, a dynamic careers event designed to inspire young women aged 14 to 17 to explore diverse career pathways. Our involvement reflects Simplot’s long-standing commitment to Tasmania, where we operate major facilities in Ulverstone, Devonport and Wesley Vale. The theme for the event was ‘Fast track your career, the future is FEARLESS’, encouraging attendees to challenge traditional stereotypes.
The two-day expo and gala dinner provided a unique opportunity to connect with students, educators and industry partners, helping to build a stronger pipeline for early careers in the region. Through our sponsorship and presence at the event, Simplot showcased the breadth of opportunities available in food manufacturing, engineering and skilled trades, sectors that play a vital role in Tasmania’s economy and in Simplot’s operations.
A standout moment of the festival was the keynote address delivered by Jen Fitzpatrick, a Maintenance Electrician based at our Devonport plant. Jen shared her inspiring journey from teacher to electrician, culminating in a 12-month expedition to Antarctica. Her story of resilience and determination struck a powerful chord with attendees, demonstrating the diverse and rewarding career paths available in regional industries. Throughout the event, Simplot team members played an important role as mentors and industry ambassadors, engaging with students and sharing insights into their careers. Their presence helped explain roles in manufacturing and skilled trades, encouraging young women to consider opportunities they may not have previously explored.
